Dancing til Sunrise at Sundance

Slight change of plans… Patrick, after making his unannounced visit last weekend, again surprised me with a late-hour invite to the Sundance Film Festival. My debut there – and what a scene! Movies, music, beautiful people and scrumptious scenes. And tons of action!

Knowing how much I love music, it won’t surprise you that my favorite film was Dave Grohl’s directorial debut, “Sound City” – a documentary showcasing the studio where countless legendary albums were recorded, including Nirvana’s “Nevermind.” Stevie Nicks, who recorded there with Fleetwood Mac, was even there at the festival to help promote.

Alicia Keys was also there to debut her first film as executive producer and composer – and Friday was her birthday. That night, we caught Eric Hutchinson at the ASCAP Music Café. Patrick knows seemingly everyone, and he made me feel like a celebrity.

We closed the night’s festivities with a VIP visit to Star Bar, Park City’s newest fully renovated club. I went vintage in an Oleg Cassini sequined LBD. “Rebel Rebel, put on your dress…” (you get the picture!) My hot black Vampstick was a necessary accessory.

We mingled into dawn, when Patrick whispered a little something about my own star quality. Yes, a Vaping Vamp makes an indelible impression - no matter what scene she’s in!

I’m bringing the sun back to chilly Minneapolis.  And memories to make me dance!

Talk soon,

An Unexpected Visitor at the Benefit

Dear Zuri,

The benefit for Viktor was … well, interesting, to say the least. Tons of people were there – even some surprise visitors (more on that later), the music was rocking and I even turned a few more friends onto vaping as I sat perched on a bar stool, flashing the blue tip of my sleek black e-cigarette.

The beginning of the evening was innocent enough. Viktor, whose Russian accent is absolutely charming, not to mention that shock of gorgeous red hair, was absolutely blown away by the show of love and support. Between the funds we’ve raised for him and the many, many donations of clothing, furniture, etc., he’s getting firmly back on his feet after the post-Christmas fire that completely destroyed his apartment.

But I think between all the excitement, the free-flowing wine and the Bailey’s Irish Cream cheesecake, Viktor was sick to his stomach for most of the evening. But I’m afraid another contributing factor was the fact that halfway through the evening, I had an unexpected visitor.

Zuri, I can just hear you saying, “I told you so, Vita! You are playing with fire!”

Now I might’ve expected another dozen roses from my Parisian playboy or another Chanel scarf from my German diplomat. But this was totally unexpected. Remember Patrick from my weekend in San Francisco? Well, because we’re friends on Facebook, he had heard all about the benefit. It turned out he was in town scouting out a location for his next film, and decided to surprise me.

He not only surprised me – he really surprised poor Viktor, who no doubt was thinking he might be able to park in my garage in both the literal and figurative sense. But you see, proximity is not a vantage, for a Vaping Vamp knows no bounds!

My red-haired Russian rises from the ashes

Dear Zuri,

Remember Viktor from that first night when I met you? The red-haired Russian who’s studying architecture at the U of MN?

Well, he’s moving into the other half of my duplex! I mean, what’s there not to like about a guy who can cook a nice hot meal and tinker under the hood of my 1968 Volvo?

Actually, it’s quite a story. You see, his apartment building burned to the ground three days after Xmas. They determined the cause of the fire was unattended candles in a first floor apartment.

Fortunately, he and everyone in the building got out OK as it was 8 in the morning. True to form, Viktor was at the gym, working on his amazing pec’s and biceps!

But the bad news is that he lost literally everything he had brought from Moscow and accumulated here in the fire, including that sexy turtleneck sweater he wore the night he came over and cooked for me. I already went out and got him a Loro Piana cashmere sweater. I mean, a Vaping Vamp’s next-door man should always dress in style!

He has made quite a few friends in the last several months, and I’ve organized a fund-raiser for him next Friday night. I’ll tell you all about it next weekend!

Daring dances and good deeds

Dear Allie,

What a New Years! I wish you could have stayed longer because after midnight things started to sizzle on the dance floor!

After toasting to 2013 under a downpour of balloons and confetti, I found myself face to face with the mysterious Frenchman I had met in Paris. He kissed my hand, and then pulled me close for a chaste brush of lips. Before I could react he whispered in my ear, “Allow me the honor of the first dance, of what will be an extraordinary new year.”

Like magic, the crowd parted as he led me to the dance floor. With a nod of his head the band lit up the room with a ferociously sexy Latin song. I silently thanked my mother for dance lessons as I slid into a perfect Salsa. His dancing was equally magnificent as we pulsated together in a rhythm of sultry seduction.

Zuri was shaking her head violently at us, but he didn’t take his eyes off me! When the music ended he whispered again, “Until we meet again, I shall dream of nothing but you.” And then he was gone! “That was Perrin Marseau, my darling. His family is infamous in France.” Zuri said, and again warned me off of the dangerously sexy Parisian.

I did my first good deed of 2013 later at B.B. King’s nightclub. After overhearing our waitress bemoan her many attempts to quit smoking every New Year, I pulled her aside and handed her a Tia Berry cartomizer and e-cig. “Vaping is the answer!” I told her with a wink.

More to tell later, but for now I have to catch a flight back home to the Twin Cities. I’m wearing my latest  favorite Armani ensemble, just in case….  A Vaping Vamp is always dressed for success and surprises!

A big night in store in the Big Apple

Dear Zuri,

Christmas in Stockholm dazzled and delighted! But New Year’s Eve in the Big Apple will be spectacular! I reconsidered my Jenny Packham (I have another event in Feb. it’ll be perfect for), and decided to go with this Catherine Regehr off-the-shoulder number. With my stiletto Edmundo Castillo pumps, I may outshine even the Waterford Crystal Ball in Times Square!

The Cipriani 42nd Street just drips with European decadence and they have a VIP table reserved for us. After we’ve rung in the New Year with music, dancing and champagne, we can limo over to the B.B. King Blues Club for their famous after party. You will finally get to meet Allie! I’m so excited to celebrate the end of 2012 with my two best friends in the world.

This morning I received the most exquisite bouquet of roses. The concierge here at The Plaza broughtthem up himself. The card read, “It will be a night to remember.” But there was no signature. Do you have any idea who may have sent them? It could be one of so many…

I dare say I am intrigued! I have a feeling New Year’s Eve may have some sensational surprises in store!

I’m off now to the spa for some primping and pampering. A vaping vamp’s gotta look her absolute vampiest on the last night of 2012!

Extra Brut (and I’m not just talking champagne)

Dear Zuri,

Landed in Stockholm last week, and spent the past few days recovering from jetlag at the Story Hotel in the middle of Östermalm - you know, the ritzy, east side of Stockholm. This hotel is amazing! Art deco paintings and artwork everywhere and you should see my room, not to mention the gentlemen both inside and outside the bar. We’re definitely staying here next time we meet here!

Last night I went Christmas shopping at NK, (a giant, Swedish ‘mall’) and happened to catch their yearly fashion show.  It was a “smörgåsbord” of fashion ranging from DKNY, Burberry and some Swedish labels; one of them is called ‘Acne,’ which definitely doesn’t translate well!

image

While mingling in the crowd, I ran into an old co-worker from my New York office who was apparently working with a few of the designers! I hadn’t seen him in several years and when he invited me backstage for some champagne with the models and designers - well, I know how to seize good opportunity! I was wearing my favorite long-sleeved black DKNY dress and leather jacket, and was feeling especially fashionista-vampy ;-)

After meeting the male underwear models, I whipped out my e-cig and vaped backstage while scantily dressed, gorgeous men uncorked a bottle of Grande Cuvée Extra Brut champagne. A vaping vamp likes both her men and her champagne in extra brut!

Then a few of us ventured out to the Absolut Ice Bar to chill out and tease a few turister.

Gotta go, my aunt and uncle just called me…

Night flying

Dear Zuri,

So, as you know I’m spending this Christmas in Sweden, to have a little bonding time with colleagues and catch up with my Swedish relatives.

Well, the flight to Stockholm turned out even more interesting than usual. After buying a bottle of Vol de Nuit (which ironically means “night flying,” exactly what I was doing) at the duty free shop, a tall handsome German with curly hair and deep blue eyes sat down next to me at the gate.

Looking down at my footwear, he said, “With a pair of shoes like that, you’ll need to stay warm.” (I was wearing my favorite Lagerfeld pair- the ones I bought last time we were in Paris, those white, vintage heels, remember? ;-) )

I couldn’t help myself but flirt back, “That depends on just how hot my destination is” whereupon he promptly offered me his Valentino cashmere scarf (I just adore a well-dressed man in a scarf!).

As we flirted back and forth, Tobias informed me that he’s a German diplomat returning from a lengthy stay in Minnesota (the international negotiations took place in Minneapolis). I vaped while he told me a little about his life in Berlin.

He told me he recently quit smoking (for the umpteenth time: apparently, it’s an on-again-off-again thing, you know, just like some relationships). He was quite fascinated with my vaping. I told him that kissing a smoker is like licking an ashtray, and he asked me if that was an invitation. Oh, the vampiness knows no limit whilst vaping!

After boarding, he magically appeared next to me in seat 1B. He said, “Traveling next to a beautiful woman… now that’s traveling first class.”

As the flight attendant handed us two glasses of Cristal champagne, I said, “no matter where a vaping vamp sits, she’s always in first class.”

More on my visit with Tobias later…  just heard back from my CEO.

I vaped while Terrence flamed

Dear Zuri,

You’ll be happy to know I landed safely in San Francisco into the arms of my new friend Terrence – you know, the one who works for Tommy Pham’s Grp.E brand of “great fitting jeans that are comfortable, tough, and come off in a snap.”

Too bad he’s light in the loafers (blue suede Versace loafers, to be exact) because he’s one hunk o’ burnin’ love. We met a few weeks ago in the executive suite at The Who concert in Minneapolis, and got our grind on to the give-me-fever hot rockin’ soul of opening act Vintage Trouble. They call their fans Troublemakers, and we definitely fit the bill ; )

We started the night at Kiss Seafood where their food is artistic perfection; the halibut under egg custard and mushroom/scallop broth was to die for. Then made our way to the classy club Vessel, where a little naughtiness ensued.

After popping a bottle of Veuve Clicquot, I vaped and he flamed. I was red-carpet white-hot in my Badgley Mischka halter cocktail dress, which caught the eye of a certain someone known in celebrity circles. Naturally, Terrence, who dresses the glitterati for sexy success, also knew him.

It was like a scene from a slow-motion movie as Patrick made his way to our table. He gave Terrence a slapped-shoulder hello, then turned toward me and asked to be introduced to his lovely lady friend. I extended my arm and he gently grasped my wrist, went down on one knee and gave my hand a tender kiss. I love it when a man falls to his knees for me.

So let me tell you a little more about Patrick. Uh-oh, freeze frame. Got a flight to catch!

I ate Viktor’s dinner — literally!

Dear Zuri,

Remember Viktor from our night on the town last week? The cute red-haired guy with the Russian accent? Well, he insisted on making dinner for me. How could I resist? You know I’m a sucker for a home-cooked meal, since I have no patience in the kitchen.

He came over last Friday with bags of groceries in hand, wearing a heavy wool cable knit sweater looking just as charming as the other night. I love a man in a turtleneck sweater! I enjoy going out far more than staying in – but I could already tell this evening was going to be different… and it was!

He brought all the ingredients for Pasta al Salmone Affumicato – which struck me as strange that he was cooking a classically Italian dish. But it turns out his mother is Italian. Hmmm, I have a feeling that there’s more going on with this red-haired Russian than meets the eye…

As the smoked salmon sauce simmered on the stove, he dug right into my spice cabinet and pull out just the right spices. He transformed food into art, and I could tell by the way he talked he could work this same magic no matter what he touched.

When we sat down to eat, I was eager to dig in. But picture this: Viktor gently dipped his fork into his food, and then slowly lifted the first morsel into my mouth. Oh, it was all so  tantalizing… and so was that first bite! I was so full after dinner, I simply had a sweet mango vape.

Oh, well, you get the picture. I think I might keep Viktor around for a while. I might just need him to fix that squeak in my Volvo…

So what have you been up to? I can’t wait to hear what you have cooked up for us to do in Paris…

Later, luv!
